Supported Independent Living (SIL)

A home of your own with the right support built in. Our Supported Independent Living services help NDIS participants live as independently as possible, in housing that suits them.

Housemates and a support worker preparing dinner together in a modern accessible kitchen

Supported Independent Living is about having a real home, not just a place where care happens. Whether you share with housemates or live on your own, SIL provides the day-to-day support you need, from a few drop-in hours to 24/7 assistance, while you build the skills to do more for yourself.

We take matching seriously. The people you live with and the workers who support you shape your everyday life, so we invest time in getting both right, with meet-and-greets, trial stays and honest conversations before anyone moves in.

Support in a SIL home covers the practical and the personal: cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication, and encouragement to pursue work, study, hobbies and relationships beyond the front gate.

We'll help you understand which pathway fits — always check the latest government guidance.

  • NDIS SIL funding

The NDIS funds Supported Independent Living for eligible participants, based on an assessment of the support needed in the home.

  • Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

Separate NDIS funding for the physical dwelling itself, for participants who need specially designed housing.

  • Private arrangements

Support in your own home or rental can also be arranged privately, outside NDIS funding.
